Mysterious Structures

Things archaeology cannot explain

If you had studied any type of history, you would have probably learned about the many mysterious structures found worldwide. Unfortunately, those mysterious structures have often been named and credited to different people groups.

Even though the evidence is not compelling and despite confessions from those people groups that those structures were already built when their ancestors arrived in the area.

No matter how hard archaeology and archaeologists try, they often end up not being able to find any information about these structures. The best they came up with is that they had some mystical religious purpose and the artifacts found were all religiously related.

Sometimes archaeologists would attribute what they found to a palace and some king but those identifications were as spurious as the ones for temples, cults, and religious artifacts.

What remains can be astounding, as well as breathtaking as the sophistication of the construction of these structures astonishes modern builders. There are no words to describe how accurately these structures were built.

The fact that they have been standing for thousands of years, is a testament to the quality of materials and skill used to develop and build these mysterious structures.

Who built them

There are no real answers to this question because no one knows who actually built these structures. In many cases, they just exist in locations where they are surrounded by less modern and sophisticated societies that make no claim to building them.

That means the mystery continues as the lack of ancient contemporary manuscripts describing these structures, who built them, and why, means we will never know the answers.

Some archaeologists have credited certain Meso & South American American mysterious structures to the Aztecs, the Incas, and the Mayan people groups. This is done by identifying certain artifacts found in and near those structures.

There are no manuscripts bragging about the construction of these pyramids and other buildings. Nor are there any documents from neighboring societies describing how wonderful those buildings looked and how they were constructed.

Even though the Aztecs, Mayans, and the Incas probably used these buildings for their own purposes, the original builders and purposes are unknown. We cannot credit the Toltecs or the Olmecs for building these buildings because we know little to nothing about them.

It is a well-known fact that the Spaniards destroyed a host of manuscripts during their conquest. But what that means is that the truth about these pyramids, etc., may not be known. We have heard and read that the Aztecs confessed they didn’t build them but no one seems to take that confession seriously.

This is just one geographical area that has these structures. The Aztecs, etc., cannot be responsible for all the ones that have been located around the world. Yet, the reasoning is the same when it comes to identifying the builders- the nearest people group gets the credit even though they had nothing to do with the construction.

This goes for Easter Island, Stonehenge, the Pyramids, and many other mysterious structures. The Native American tribes are included in this false identification process as they are credited with building big earthen mounds.

With no verifiable written records, it is a large leap to a conclusion to give credit where it is not due. While the more modern people groups used these structures, buried kings inside, etc., that does not mean they built them.

Why were they built?

This is another great mystery that confounds scholars and archaeologists. No one knows why any of these structures were built. With all the records lost or destroyed, it is anyone’s guess as to why they were built.

This leaves these mysterious structures vulnerable to the whims, beliefs, and imaginations of the discoverer. Not every person who discovered these sites were archaeologists or scholars.

We use the word ‘discover’ in its traditional sense here as we know the local people knew about them for a very long time. Those foreigners who happened upon them or were led to them were simply the first foreigners to see these buildings.

But the fact remains, without any written record, these buildings were labeled according to the ideas of the archaeologists as well as the thoughts of the local people.

We cannot verify the information placed on these buildings because all we have are those faulty conclusions and the word of the local tribes. There is nothing that can be used to compare information as any information comes thousands of years after construction.

The information provided by the local tribes and societies will only cover the years that those specific people groups used the structures. The purpose of the builders for their use of these buildings may and usually not be the same as the local people groups.

This absence of knowledge only deepens the mysteries surrounding these structures. Archaeologists and scholars usually point to the variety of artifacts credited to the same local people groups.

However, those pieces of information are also read into those discoveries and not taken out of them. There is no written work describing those artifacts or why they were created, who made them, and what purpose they served.

There is also nothing written to explain why they were found where they were. Almost every discovery is left to what the discoverer decides those symbols and artwork mean. In other words, nothing is taken out of those artifacts. Everything is read into them.

How close are the archaeologists and scholars when they do this? That remains to be seen but more often than not, they are not very close. They say that archaeologists are not very imaginative or creative but when it comes to identification and explanation, they are very imaginative and creative.

In the end, it is all a guess as to who built these structures and why they built them. Some guesses are very good as many of these structures have similar elements built into them.

Those elements usually have to do with the solstices and the stars. What we get then is a brief snapshot into one possible use for these structures.

Dating these structures is impossible

We have always questioned the dating of many archaeological eras, sites, and other discoveries. Science has tried to invent accurate dating mechanisms but those mechanisms all have the same flaw. They were designed and built based on assumption, not fact.

Plus, there are too many assumptions made during the dating process to get an accurate timetable. Without a factual and accurate starting point, it is impossible to date backward.

Dating is easy when you have a sign for a business that says established in 1940. Looking at that accurate and factual dating point we can come up with the correct answer- the business has been existing for 83 years.

The ancient world did not have this easy-to-date system. Even if they did, we may not know exactly when the buildings were built because almost every ancient society had its own dating system.

Others had overlapping dating systems making accurate dating impossible. Given the current calendar system, more confusion in dating mysterious structures occurs. Plus, it is hard if not impossible to know exactly when those ancient civilizations started their calendars.

Their origins are often shrouded in a cloud that historical research cannot shine a light. Picking a specific king or era only throws the dating off, not enhances it so the construction date can be found.

Then there is the problem of when those mysterious buildings were actually built. No one knows how long they were standing there before someone found the area and made it their home.

Many more modern civilizations may take great pride in claiming those structures as their own but in reality, it is doubtful that they or their ancestors built them. This leaves a very daunting task for archaeologists and scholars.

How to get to the original construction date? This is not only daunting but vastly impossible for the above reason and because the artifacts found nearby or inside may not originate from the original builders.

Those artifacts, carvings, paintings, and other material remains only confuse the archaeologists or scholars doing the dating. or, like Baalback, the structures may have been built over even earlier buildings.

The upper portions may have known builders but what they built upon would remain a mystery. All of these factors make dating mysterious structures impossible.

Those that try, end up distorting the past and hiding the truth. This may or may not be done on purpose. Without those ancient contemporary manuscripts explaining everything, we will never know much about those mysterious structures and other mysterious sites.

What they all have in common

This is a known factor but it is not one that provides any answers to the issues mentioned earlier. These items that have elements in common only provide a small glimpse into the builders and their lives.

For example, the mysterious structures on Malta and Gonzo are known for their acoustics. This only tells us that the builders knew about sound and how to optimize it.

Another example would be the many Dolmens found around the world. These are not localized structures but ones utilized everywhere. The construction format remains the same no matter where they are found and they tell us that there was a specific purpose for their construction.

Exactly what that purpose was is not known. Like the Pyramids of Egypt, South, and Meso America, they just had the same design with a few variations. Not a lot of information can be derived from them.

The pyramids were aligned with the stars while the many stone henges found around the world were designed towards the solstices. But those are limited common aspects of construction.

There are two major items in common that all of the mysterious structures have. The first is that there are no blueprints or other descriptions remaining from any one of the sites or people groups.

It can be speculated that if the more modern civilizations built these structures they would be very proud and would preserve blueprints and other documentation that proved they built them. However, none remain nor have been found.

The second major aspect of construction all of these mysterious buildings have in common is that their neighbors do not record anything about them. When great structures were built in the modern era, (19th century onward), not only did the building country know about it and advertise the construction, but all the neighbors knew about it and have people writing about those construction marvels.

It is not a big secret and while excuses can be made for this lack of knowledge and prestige, those excuses are weak and do not justify the absence of information. We do not find one scrap of information anywhere in the ancient world that talks about these mysterious structures.

Yes, the test of time may have had something to do with this absence but for all the mysterious buildings? Highly unlikely.

Our theory

As theoarchaeologists, we have studied these mysterious sites for many years. We have taken into account the elements they have in common, the lack of actual proof more modern societies built these structures, and the unbelief factor in archaeologists and scholars.

We have come to the conclusion that the majority, not all of them, were built in the pre-flood era. The consistency in construction, the elements in common, and the lack of information about them all point in this direction.

There is no other reason that would explain why so many of these different and similar structures exist around the world. Since God said he would utterly destroy the pre-flood world, it makes sense to include this option in all the theories discussed today.

The pre-flood world was known to enjoy music, work with a variety of metals, as well as be ranchers. Thus many of the mysterious structures could have been built to facilitate those industries.

Plus, this event explains why the Aztecs, etc., could confess that they did not build those buildings. But used them when their ancestors came to the area. There have been plenty of YouTube videos that have shown the difference between Aztec actual construction and the construction methods used by earlier peoples.

There is no comparison as the quality of the Aztec walls, etc., were very inferior to what they used as a foundation. The Flood explains everything especially when you consider all the proper definitions for the word ‘destroyed’.

That word does not mean just total destruction but also loss of use, purpose, information, and much more. It is possible that God left those structures like he did the remains of the destroyed cities of Sodom & Gomorrah. They were a testament to what would happen when people disobey God and his commands, etc.

It is hard to say as only Sodom and Gomorrah got that explanation in the book of Jude. It is worth thinking about as unbelieving archaeologists and scholars are not that objective and dismiss the Flood without question. That is not objectivity at work but religious bias.

Ignoring of this possibility means that the public is not getting all the information they need to make good decisions about the past. They are spoon-fed what scholars and archaeologists want the past to be and not uncover its true history.

Conclusion

There are far too many mysterious sites to deal with in this article. Some of the more interesting ones are Puma Punku, Easter Island, Great Zimbabwe, Angkor Wat, and Chaco Canyon. Yet, even these sites are just touching a minute portion of the actual mysterious sites found around the world.

They are great structures to study, analyze, and think about. They can also be an inspiration to motivate one to build better than they already do. The key to all of these structures is that we will never get all the answers to explain them.
